2015 SUBMISSION rULES
Submission is FREE!
Submission deadline is October 15th at midnight.
Content can be humorous, scary, or serious - fiction or non-fiction, as long as it pertains to the horror genre or Halloween. All film forms are welcome including animation, mixed media, stop motion, and photo essay.
The maximum runtime for films is 5 minutes (including credits).
At least one of the filmmakers (producer, director, or writer) of your submission must have lived in Utah at one point in his or her life. We have introduced this rule to limit the volume of submissions so that we can keep the cost of submissions free for filmmakers and keep our event as a spotlight on local filmmakers.
There are no content restrictions for film submissions. However, members of our selection committee are chosen to represent the tastes and sensibilities of the event’s audience. Free submissions mean that the event is made possible because of the audience’s participation. The majority of the audience expects that there will be plenty of blood and gore and some occasional language. However, they are not expecting strong sexual content. Please consider this when writing your films in order to increase your chances of acceptance.
Increase your chances of getting selected for our film fest by keeping your film short. Although your film can be up to 5 minutes in length, don't take more time than you need to tell your story. The shorter the films are, the more we can squeeze into our program. You can substantially reduce the runtime of your film by speeding up your end credit sequence.
SELECTION AND VOTING PROCESS
Entries will be selected by an independent panel and announced by Oct 20th.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be awarded cash prizes of $300, $200, and $100 respectively. Winners will be chosen by audience vote at the event.
As of 2015, we are introducing the "Scariest Film" award, voted on by the selection committee.
